2008-09 Tuition & Fees Financial Policies
Purpose of Financial Policies
- To keep those who pay from having to subsidize those who do not.
- To keep the staff and faculty from having to subsidize (via lower salaries & restricted budgets) those families.
- To keep families from working themselves into financial difficulties.
Registration Fees
- New applicants who complete and return the application form and pay the registration fee before February 1, receive a $100 discount off of the annual registration fee of $500.
- Returning students who complete and return the re-enrollment form and pay the registration fee before February 1, receive a $100 discount off of the annual registration fee of $500.
- Registration fees are non-refundable.
- Registration fees include payment for 1 CA T-shirt, and 1 CA planner. These items will be given to the student at “Final Registration” in August.
Tuition Policies
- Tuition payments are due on the 1 st of the month.
- The full year’s tuition is payable on a 10 month basis, August 1st through May 1st.
- Any amount can be paid in advance.
- Any unpaid balance after the 5th of the month is subject to a $25 late charge.
- Tuition payments are preferred through “Simply Giving”, a free automatic draft service.
Payments set up through “SG” can be on the 1st, 5th, 10th, 15th, or 20th of the month AND WILL NOT be subject to the late charge!
- Tuition payments may also be made by cash, check, money order, bank check, MasterCard, Visa, or Discover.
- Students enrolled by August 31 st will be considered students for the entire school year.
- Students enrolled at any time after August 31st will be billed on a pro-rata rate for the month of enrollment through May (i.e. annual tuition divided by 10 months). If the student enrolls in the last 5 class days of a month, only ½ month’s tuition will be due for that month.
Tuition Discounts
- Payment in Full – A $100 discount is given if payment in full is received on or before July 31, 2008.
- Payment by “Cash” – A $300 annual or $30 monthly discount is given for tuition paid by Simply Giving, cash, check, money order, or bank check.
- Recruit a Cardinal - The family that is listed on the referral line of a student’s application who is accepted and attends CA will receive a $100 discount on that year’s tuition. Siblings do not qualify.
- Valedictorian & Salutatorian Scholarships - Students who were either Valedictorian or Salutatorian of their 8th grade class will receive a $100 scholarship from CA toward their first year’s tuition.
- Multiple Student Families – Families with more than 1 student enrolled at CA are eligible for a $400 tuition discount for each additional child. See limitations under numbers 6 – 8, if applicable.
- CA Financial Assistance – Any family requesting reduced tuition must complete and submit an application to the “Family Financial Needs Assessment” company. This independent agency determines your family’s financial ability to pay tuition – it does not provide CA any monetary support. Applications must be submitted annually each March (or as soon as possible thereafter). “CA Financial Aid” is limited to 30% of full tuition, and will be reduced by the Multiple Student Discount and any other outside assistance.
- LCMS Employees - Students of Full-time LCMS employees will pay 50% of tuition and 100% of fees. Students of Part-time LCMS employees (working 20 or more but less than 40 hours per week) will pay 75% of tuition and 100% of fees. Discount is calculated on tuition after all other available discounts have been taken. Multiple Student Discounts do not apply.
Tuition & Fee Refunds
- Registration fees are non-refundable.
- Athletic fees are only refundable as outlined in the “Athletic Fee Policy”.
- Tuition is only refundable as follows:
If a student never attends class, all prepaid tuition will be refunded.
If a student attends for less than 5 days of a month, ½ of that month's tuition will be refunded.
If a student withdraws after attending more than 5 days of a month, no tuition will be refunded for that month.
If a student is expelled, no tuition will be refunded for that month.
Late Fees
A late fee of $25.00 (twenty-five dollars) per month will be charged for each month a payment is late. This will be charged to all accounts that are not paid in full by the 5th day of the month – this applies to BOTH Tuition & Fees. Payments must be physically received by the school office on or before the 5th to avoid the late fee.
EXCEPTION: Tuition payments made through “Simply Giving” on the 1st, 5th, 10th, 15th, or 20th will all be considered as paid on time!
Fee Options
Paying fees (lunches, sports, travel, etc.) on time is very important. Statements are mailed on the 1st of the month.
Please chose one of these options and avoid the late charge on the 5th:
- Make payment in the office on or before the 5th. Checks can be dropped in the black payment box.
- Make a significant deposit to your student’s account. Replenish before it drops below $0.
- Increase your “Simply Giving” amount by an estimated average of monthly fees.
(We will ask that you make an additional payment or adjust the draft amount if it appears necessary.)
Returned Check Fees
A fee of $25.00 (twenty-five dollars) will be charged for all returned checks or auto drafts that do not clear.
Athletic Fees
See the detailed “Athletic Fee Policy”.
Austin Community College Program Fees
Students registering for ACC classes must meet the CA academic requirements as stated in the CA Student Handbook. In addition to CA regular tuition students are responsible for textbooks, fees, and equipment required by ACC for ACC classes.
Advanced Placement (AP) Program Fees
The AP fee is $150 per class per year. This fee covers the cost of the AP testing, additional materials, teacher training amortized over four years and program administration.
Athletics, Extra-Curricular Activities, & ACC Class Eligibility
The student’s account must be current (i.e. no past due balance) to be eligible to participate in athletics, ACC program, and other extra-curricular activities.
Right to Attend Class
The right to attend class at Concordia Academy is contingent upon a current account status (i.e. no past due balance). When an account is 5 days past due, the student will not be allowed in class until the matter is resolved with the Executive Director.
Release of Transcripts, Diplomas, Official Records
All tuition and fees must be paid in full (i.e. the student account has a zero balance) in order to receive a student’s transcript, diploma, and /or official records. It is preferred that payment of an outstanding balance would be made in cash or by cashier’s check.
If payment for a past due balance is received by check or credit card, student records will not be released until the payment has cleared and the funds have been received by CA. The processing time may result in a delay of up to ten days before CA receives funding.
The Financial Policies are reviewed semi-annually, and may be revised on a semester basis.
