Prospective Students

Enrollment Guideline

As a Christian high school, Concordia Academy has the responsibility to be a school that is safe, Christ-permeated, academically committed and concerned about its witness to the community. Concordia Academy is charged to view each student as a precious child created by God, loved by Him and entrusted to the good care of the school.

Concordia Academy seeks to be a distinctively Christian school with high standards. The goal of the school is not merely to teach students how to earn a living but how to live a life - a life that is both abundant and eternal. In this regard, Concordia Academy acknowledges that positive peer relationships are crucial to the Christian maturation of young people.

We want to surround our students with positive, wholesome Christian influences. Teachers make a difference. Facilities make a difference. Activities and academic emphasis make a difference. However, peer influences have the greatest effect upon the minds and hearts, faith and behavior of young people. Therefore the following enrollment guidelines have been adopted.

  1. Applying students must complete the entire application process before being considered for acceptance.
  2. Students applying for admission to Concordia Academy must be in good standing with their current or previous school. Normally, an applying student will not be considered for enrollment if the student has been expelled from school or is currently under suspension or probation or is enrolled in an alternative educational setting because of behavioral problems.
  3. Applying students must be on track with credit classification:

8th graders applying for 9th grade must be in good academic standing.
9th graders applying for 10th grade must have successfully earned no fewer than seven (7) credits.
10th graders applying for 11th grade must have successfully earned no fewer than fourteen (14) credits.
11th graders applying for 12th grade must have successfully earned no fewer than twenty-one (21) credits. Note: 12th grade applicants will be accepted only under unique circumstances. See # 5.

(If transferring from a public school, one credit per year may be subtracted.)

  4. Concordia Academy is a Christian high school that is essentially "mainstream." This means that the school is not professionally prepared or equipped to effectively help students with certain learning disabilities or certain attention disorders, which inhibit the educational process.
  5. Concordia Academy does not customarily enroll students applying for admission to the twelfth grade unless such student has just moved into Concordia's service area and meets all other criteria.
  6. A student's prior school setting is an important enrollment consideration. Normally, students from non-accredited schools or rehabilitative schools will not be accepted. Students making application will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
  7. Upon completion of the application process, applying students will be interviewed by the Executive Director or his designee. Decisions regarding enrollment made by either the Executive Director or his designee are final.
